Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Easy Bake app and the Business By Design website, both operated by Business By Design in South Africa.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. The email address is your account name and how we know whether your subscription is active. We never store your password itself.
What you put into Easy Bake. Your bakery details (name, address, logo, banking details you choose to add), your customers (name, phone number, e-mail, address, VAT number), your orders, quotes, recipes, prices and the photos you attach. This is stored on our server so that it is backed up and is there on every phone you sign in on. A copy is also kept on your phone so Easy Bake works without a signal.
A device identifier. When you use the app it creates a random code for that phone or browser. It is not linked to your phone's hardware and tells us nothing about you — it exists only so we can see how many devices an account is being used on.
Who can see it
Only you, through your own account. Each baker's information is kept separate from every other baker's. We do not read it, and we only look at it if you ask us for help and give us permission. Please look after your password — anyone who has it can see what you can see.
Invoices, quotes and e-mail
When you send an invoice, quote or statement on WhatsApp as a link, we keep that PDF on our server under a long, private web address for 90 days, then delete it. Anyone you give the link to can open it. When you send one by e-mail, our server sends it for you with your bakery name, and replies go to your own e-mail address. We do not keep a copy of the e-mail.
Payments
Subscriptions are paid by EFT. We record only the amount, the date and your payment reference, so we can confirm your subscription and answer questions about it. We never see or store your card details.
Who we share it with
Nobody. We do not sell, rent or share your information, and we do not run advertising or analytics in the app. Our website and the Easy Bake server are hosted by Afrihost in South Africa — that is the only third party that holds your information.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and your Easy Bake information for as long as you have a subscription, and for two years after it ends so we can restore your access if you come back. Payment records are kept for five years as our tax law requires.
Your rights
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act you may ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything in it. Email us and we will do it within 30 days. Deleting your account removes the copy on our server; the copy on your phone goes when you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Your customers' details are yours to look after — you are the one who decides what to keep about them.
Children
Easy Bake is made for people running a business and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, for anything significant, tell subscribers by email.
